The Papers of Julian Bond

About The Project

After the death of civil rights leader Julian H. Bond in 2015, the University of Virginia acquired all of his papers. In order to make the papers accessible to the public, in 2017 the Carter G. Woodson Institute partnered with the Center for Digital Editing (CDE) to publish his papers online.

Starting in August 2018, the CDE and Woodson Institute invited the public to help with the project. Since then, volunteers have transcribed hundreds of pages of Julian Bond’s speeches and interviews.
